Community Dance Project (CDP)
The Ly-Ben Dance Alliance operates the Community Dance Project (CDP), which aims to foster connections among local communities through dance. CDP strives to provide dance education to underprivileged and underserved individuals, offering them access to high-quality training and performance opportunities. To ensure consistency and excellence, CDP classes are taught by a team of select professionals who have received training from the founder and director, Gail A. Glover.
Vision
Our vision is to use dance and related arts to promote the exploration of movement and technique among the underserved and underprivileged communities. We aim to achieve this by making dance accessible and affordable, and by consistently delivering excellent dance training.
Mission
Our mission is to combat systemic racism and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the arts by challenging traditional Eurocentric notions associated with dance, particularly Ballet. We strive to expand audiences by introducing young children, from preschool through elementary school, to the beauty, athleticism, hard work, and passion of dance. We aim to build strong partnerships with supportive community organizations that foster positive self-esteem among dancers of color. Additionally, we seek to establish and maintain relationships with professional dancers of color to inspire and encourage underserved and underprivileged dancers of color.
